Overriding Do Not Disturb on Android

On newer versions of Android, it may be necessary to allow the Pushover application to override the system's Do Not Disturb settings to allow notifications to play sound.

Start by swiping down from the top of the screen and tap-and-hold on Do Not Disturb.

At the Do Not Disturb screen, tap on Apps

Next, tap Add apps

Then select Pushover from the list

Finally, tap Allow all notifications and ensure that all options are enabled.  If you use new alert sounds in the future that are not bypassing Do Not Disturb, it may be required to do these steps again and enable any new options in this list.
