Don't dismiss all Pushover notifications upon opening the app

The issue I have with this is that upon clicking on "acknowledge" to not get spammed by a reoccuring Pushover priority notification, you automatically get redirected to the Pushover app, thus dismissing all Pushover notifications. This is a problem because I oftentimes have multiple notifications I haven't looked at and if I dismiss them like that there's a chance I will forget looking at them in the future.

I forgot to mention something; another aspect of this problem that makes it even more annoying:

When you get redirected to the Pushover app by clicking "acknowledge" and you lock your phone without first leaving the app, you're gonna run into a problem: New Pushover notifications will immediately disappear. Despite my Pixel 3 being locked, Pushover acts as if it isn't and as if it was running in the foreground instead.
Why is this so problematic to me? I use Pushover on a permanently wall-charged phone that I only use for Pushover. This phone is set up to automatically lock itself once all Pushover notifications are dismissed. So, the moment I'm redirected to the Pushover app, my phone locks. I then have to manually unlock it to get out of the app and then lock it again, which is quite annoying to me, considering how much I use Pushover.
