iOS: implement critical alerts for priority 'emergency'

Since iOS 12 there is an option to enable critical alerts. This option will override the mute and 'do not disturb' options on the system.

See here for documentation: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/usernotifications/unnotificationsettings/2963116-criticalalertsetting

Would be a nice feature for the 'emergency' priority.

Our current TestFlight beta now has Critical Alert functionality

Sadly, pushover still isn't an approved category. The home assistant is under personal safety and security. Pushover is a generic notification service. Even if you're using pushover for anything in that category, it doesn't mean others will. Unless Apple expands the scope of allowed apps, it won't happen anytime soon.

Looks like https://companion.home-assistant.io/en/next/notifications/critical was provisioned for critical alerts. Maybe you can make an app just for home-automation notifications and it will get approved?

As Zachary mentioned, Apple is not allowing most apps to receive this entitlement.  We applied multiple times and they keep saying our app doesn't fit their current requirements.

Right now Apple is very strict with what apps are allowed to use critical alerts. As of right now, the only app I have that was able to get approved is our 9-1-1 dispatching app (Bryx 911). Apple stated during the announcement of critical alerts that there would only be four categories of apps that would be allowed to use it.
